Privacy Policy

The short version
- If you join the waitlist, we store your email address. That is the only personal data we ask for.
- We use it once now (a confirmation) and once later (your beta invite).
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels. This site does not follow you around.
- We never sell or share your address, and we never send marketing from anyone else.
- Want out? Email hello@firststar.app and we delete you. No form, no reason needed.
Who is responsible
First Star is an independent project built by Dominik Feret, based in Poland, who is the data controller for everything described here. There is no company behind this and no team — one developer, one inbox.
For anything about your data — access, deletion, or a complaint — write to hello@firststar.app. A person reads it.
What we collect, and when
Only what the waitlist form sends. If you never submit the form, we collect no personal data about you at all — there is no analytics script on this site to collect it with.
When you submit the form, we store:
- Your email address — so we can send your beta invite.
- The date and time you signed up, and a note that the signup came from the landing page — so invites can go out in order.
- Whether your confirmation email was sent, plus the delivery reference our email provider returns — so we can tell a delivery failure from a missing signup, and never send you the same email twice.
We do not ask for your name, and there is no account, no password, and no profile. Your email address is stored once: submitting the same address again changes nothing and sends nothing.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Your consent, given when you submit the form (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your address; withdrawing does not affect anything we did while the consent stood.
Who else touches it
Three service providers process data on our behalf, each under a data processing agreement, and none of them may use your address for their own purposes:
- Supabase — the database holding the waitlist. Our database runs in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Resend — sends the confirmation email and, later, your beta invite.
- Vercel — hosts this website and serves its pages.
Resend and Vercel are US-based, so your email address may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers are covered by the safeguards in each provider’s data processing terms — the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Beyond these three, we share your address with no one — we do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers.
How long we keep it
Your waitlist entry lasts until the beta invites have gone out and the app is publicly launched, at which point the waitlist has done its job and we delete it. If you ask us to remove you sooner, we do it when you ask. Either way we delete the row itself — we do not keep a “suppression copy” of your address afterwards.
If you later become a First Star user, that does not extend your waitlist entry. An app account is a separate record that you create by signing up in the app: it exists because you have an account, it is kept for as long as you keep that account, and it is covered by the app’s own privacy policy rather than this one. We do not quietly convert waitlist addresses into user accounts, and we do not move them onto a separate marketing list. The waitlist address is used for the beta invite and nothing else.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable form, or restrict what we do with it. Email hello@firststar.app and we will act within 30 days. Since the only thing we hold is your email address, most of these requests take us about a minute.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to a data protection authority — either the one in the EU country where you live or work, or ours: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl).
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising, or session-recording scripts. There is no consent banner here because there is nothing to consent to. Fonts are served from this site rather than from a third party, so simply reading this page tells no one else that you were here.
Our hosting provider processes standard server request data (such as IP address) to deliver pages and absorb attacks. We do not build profiles from it.
When the app launches
The First Star app is not released yet. When it is, it will have its own privacy policy, and this is the commitment it will be held to: your brain dumps are sent for sorting and the sorted list comes straight back. We do not log or store the contents of a dump on our servers, and no AI model is trained on what you write.
Changes
If what we do with your data changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant and you are on the waitlist, we will tell you by email rather than quietly editing this page.
Questions about any of this? Write to hello@firststar.app.
